This is Chance, a very lucky yellow lab.  He is one of two dogs rescued from a neglectful home in December 2010.  He was tied in the back yard with a log chain for a collar.  He was starved, nothing but skin and bones when he was brought to us by the same person who rescued the other dog, a puppy.  Chance owes his life to that person for getting him out of that situation.  I will be forever grateful to him.

Chance was very scared of me when he realized the other person was gone.  He went to the back of the yard and growled at me as I approached him.  Another member of MAR happened to stop over and she kept him cornered while I went to get treats for him.  We managed to get him to eat, took the log chain off his neck and put a collar on him.  He did not want to come into the house, but we made him.  After about an hour inside, he calmed down and must have realized he was safe because he began to relax.  He improved daily, not only healthwise, but socially.  I credit the other dogs with helping gain his confidence and strength.

He was adopted to a couple in Aberdeen, but when they decided to have a family, they didn't think Chance would be good around kids.   He came back to us and was shortly adopted to a family with FOUR young kids and he is having the time of his life.  He is a happy, healthy boy these days and is VERY loved!
