Here are some "Happy Tails" from families that adopted pets from us!
Our Klock Werks family is a group of animal and people lovers. We are so fortunate that there is such a spirit of service and caring amongst our team. Within our core Klock Werks team we represent many different groups in our community from myself as VP of the Mitchell Area Safehouse Foundation Board, to the CASA program, Food Fight, the Rodeo Committee, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Celebrate Recovery, MTI, and the Humane Society. And because of our team member Dan Cheeseman’s involvement in the Humane Society, we get the email alerts when a pet needs a home. I’m focusing on that one today, because my immediate family was recently affected by a photo that was sent, and now we have a new member of our family!
Her name is Lola Starr and she is a pit mix that was left at the vet’s office with a broken leg. They weren’t able to save her left leg, and had to amputate. Unfortunately her owners didn’t come pick her up, so she went to the Humane Society and ended up at my friend Michelle’s house as she fosters pets that need homes. Lola’s photo touched me and I just couldn’t shake the feeling, so I started introducing the idea to my husband Brian. After a week or so, it became “PLEASE BRIAN, I won’t ask for anything for a long time!!” (yes, I reverted to the actions of a 3rd grader) I really felt that she was supposed to be with us!
My husband has a big heart too – and he eventually said yes! Lola came to live with us on Tuesday, April 13, 2010. She is about 5 months old, and she is an angel! She gets along with Tae, our husky, and Q, our sheltie, just fine! She has an amazing spirit, gets around great on her 3 legs, and learns really quick. She wrestles with Tae at home, and sleeps in my office next to me while I work all day. She makes me smile. I was reflecting on the people that God has placed in my life…some to give me a message and others for me to influence – but I know there are no coincidences. And for us, that is how it’s been with our pets too! There is a story about how Q (his name on paper is Explosive GQ Special Edition which is a mouthful – so we call him Q) ended up in our home, and Tae too – he just showed up one day needing a home. Neither of those pets were planned but each have served such an amazing purpose in our lives. God placed them there. So, it really was no surprise that the next addition would be equally as special….and she is, our Lola Starr.
I have some new pictures of Lola Starr and her brothers. Just thought I would share!
She was recently spayed and also got that hernia removed but was still so sweet and gentle when I was babysitting a 9 month old a few weeks ago. I think those photos are amazing to show. A pit bull next to a baby and they are loving each other J
I have some video of her RUNNING and playing with our husky Tae…but I need to switch it to youtube mode so the files are smaller. When I post it I will let you know.
Thanks. Just wanted to share that she is doing GREAT now that she is feeling so much better. Her true spirit and personality are coming through and she’s a lively little thing. But so obedient and smart. She loves to snuggle and always wants her nose tucked down in wherever she’s laying on you. We just love her so much.
Thank you for saving her life.
![]() | Caleb is doing well and I think feeling at HOME! We had a long rainy week of mud and indoor/garage time, but now are happy to have sunshine and outdoor life! He had his stitches out in Winner on Friday and that went well. He was a little hesitant about going with Kyle in the back of the pickup, but has now mastered that and awaits trips around the land! He's a great companion with the kids and at first had to be beside me at all times. I'm happy to say he is becoming more independent and at peace. He'd like to go with us whenever we leave, and at times chases us a ways, but is learning to 'go home'. He's tree'd a few cats and has our population down, which is actually good. Our mama cat has three new babies, and she protects her domain. She's trained him to not get in her way. He has only barked when she comes around, other than that I don't hear him. We are very much enjoying him and are happy to have him! Thank you! |
![]() | After many names the first few days, the girls decided on Annie. Annie is Shelby's shadow when she is home and has found Shelby's bed pretty comfortable at night. Still working on the house training and the normal "puppy" phase. All in all she fits with this family really well. Thanks!!!

![]() | I just thought that I would let you know that I did go in Saturday morning and adopted Barnaby. He is a wonderful cat!!!! I had to rename him Harvey because I have a dog named Barney and the names sounded to much alike. Harvey will be a house cat. He already thinks that his bed is on our bed. If I set down he is on my lap right away. He seems to be afraid to let me out of his sight. If I even go to the bathroom, he sits by the door and meows. I don't know where he came from but he does not want to be alone. My husband even said we better get him a Christmas gift. Thank you for doing such a good job with your animal rescue. I saw the ad in the paper and just thought I would check out your sight. I was'nt looking for a cat, but when I saw Harveys picture I knew I had to have him. Just wanted you to know that thanks to you Harvey has a good home and is loved very much!!!!!!

![]() | I just wanted to let you know that the dog my mother adopted from the Mitchell Animal Rescue on September 12th has become a much loved and pampered companion in her home. You had named her “Sugar” (we believe she is a West Highland Terrie r mix) but my mother renamed her Chicky2 upon adoption. I had the privilege of meeting Chicky2 earlier this month while visiting my mother and I can honestly say I don’t think Sugar could have a found a better home.

![]() | The other Westie “Pixie” was adopted out. It just so happens a good friend of mine adopted her and renamed her Susie. She is named after a very close friend that passed away from cancer 2 years ago. Susie is doing wonderful and is in a very loving home. I had the opportunity to dog sit her for a few days last month and she really is a little sweetie. She is spoiled and loved just like all dogs should be!

![]() | I adopted a puppy from the rescue in October....a little schnauzer mix named Spunky. I just wanted to give an update....Josie (as we call her) is doing quite well and enjoys all of the attention that she receives. She loves to hang out with my other dog Bailey. He even taught her to curl up on the couch Here is a picture....She is quite a character, and she chews every toy in sight! This used to be a fleece ball...she loves to throw the pieces around and chew on them even more!
